Background
At the time I had been working on cast plaster and wax forms which suggested both sweets and natural forms, and Natural Selection 1995 was a development of this idea intended to emphasize the physical and tactile. The forms are cast and painted dental plaster housed in a painted wooden frame .. and they were meant to be touched. That was part of the fun .. seeing who would, and which forms they dared to!
This work was bought by the British Council for their permanent collection.
Augenvotiv was similar, except with toy eyes embedded. Both these photos are details .. unfortunately I’m still looking for the full photos I had.
